Geschwisterraum, our mission is to bridge cultures through the power of art. Each year, we host a three-month artist residency in our Karlsruhe home, offering a unique opportunity to immerse in the rich culture of Germany. This initiative not only celebrates artistic diversity but also fosters new and exciting possibilities within the art community.

In 2024, marking the fourth edition of our residency program, we are thrilled to welcome Gershon Gidisu from Ghana as our Artist in Residence from July to September. We look forward to the vibrant exchange of ideas and the creative synergy that Gershon will bring to our community.

Gershon Gidisu, born in 1994, is a Ghanaian artist and designer based in Accra and Kumasi. He is pursuing an MFA in Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and has a background in shoemaking. His work focuses on the lifecycle and impact of materials used in everyday objects. Gidisu has assisted Bernard Akoi-Jackson from 2017 to 2021, participated in the OfKob residency in 2018, and organized a street art festival at KNUST. He has held a solo exhibition „HEAL“ and participated in various group exhibitions. His interest in exhibition design has led him to assist with several notable exhibitions, including those at SCCA Tamale and ADA Contemporary Art Gallery. In 2021, he collaborated on an innovative multi-site exhibition titled „Exposure.“
